Dear Members of the Academic, Industrial and Medical Professions
Involved in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Activities,
Welcome to the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Society (BTES)’s web page. Our society was founded in May 2008 in Ankara, Turkey. We aim to bring together all those interested in the biomaterials and tissue engineering products and the researchers involved in studies on design, development and commercial application of biomaterials and their cell carrying hybrid products. This area covers all types of materials used in medical applications such as orthopedic, cardiovascular, and dental implants, and other types of materials that come in contact with the biological systems for short and long periods. We also aim to support institutions and organizations operating in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering, and coordinate efforts to help Turkey become one of the leading countries in this important interdisciplinary field.
BTES (BDMD in Turkish) is the most important society in Turkey in this field that focuses on increasing the research capacity, interaction and information sharing among its members and the local and international counterparts.
As a society we aim at:
-
Conducting all kinds of research and work in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering science and technology,
-
Help prepare and conduct joint research projects in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering,
-
Providing guidance for all institutions and organizations operating in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering,
-
Making surveys to increase the efficiency of our activities, sharing their results through electronic and other conventional routes with our members and/or the public,
-
Disseminating information on BTES and its members (via newspapers, magazines, books, web pages),
-
Organizing meetings, courses, seminars, excursions, festivals, conferences, panels, fairs and the like in order to disseminate information about important biomaterials related topics and issues,
-
Organizing special activities to increase the number of contacts and collaboration among the members,
-
Creating a documentation center to make available the information, documents and publications necessary for the realization of our goals,
-
Joining international societies and organizations, and cooperating in joint activities on projects towards common goals in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering,
-
Creating platforms together with the other societies, foundations, trade unions, governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), which serve the purposes of our Society or are in line with common goals, such as rules, regulations, and laws.
Additionally, as a member of the ‘European Society for Biomaterials’ (ESB) and ‘The International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Sciences and Engineering’ (IUS-BSE) through ESB, BTES maintains its contacts at an international level.
As BTES, our goals are ambitious and show there is plenty to do. We can achieve these goals only with your support. We are inviting you to join our Society, strengthen BTES with your recommendations and efforts and help us realize our common goals.
